Mario's Galactic Adventure Preview Arrives, Revealing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. The reveal happened in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that centered on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
Following up on the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will transport Mario to the distant reaches of the galaxy. There, he will encounter a different royal figure and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
An Interstellar Journey Based on Classic Games
Similar to the Wii-era games that act as its source material, Mario will depart from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. Throughout his extensive trek, he will encounter once more some recognizable characters, for instance the Luma, a breakout star from the previous film.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who seemingly utilizes powers related to metal. Interestingly, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also contains hints to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Returns and Expands
The film will see the return of the initial voice actors, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
A Big Year for Mario
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is scheduled to arrive near the 40-year celebration of the first Super Mario Bros. title. In addition to the movie, 2026 is shaping up to be a major period for Mario and his allies.
The company has three new games publicly declared for the upcoming year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Release Date Confirmed
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
