Australian authorities have suspended the search for a four-year-old who has been lost in the remote area for nearly twenty-one days, after renewed efforts were unable to find any traces of the boy.

Sequence of Occurrences

Gus Lamont was spotted engaging around his residence on a remote rural property near Yunta, about 186 miles from Adelaide, on 27 September.

His grandmother briefly departed for about a short period before returning, only to find the boy gone, prompting one of the most extensive comprehensive searches in local past.

Latest Situation

Police - who do not suspect criminal activity - say they will persist looking into, but that the case has become a "recovery operation".

Earlier, authorities for a short time scaled back the search, only to recommence it on Tuesday alongside 80 Australian Defense Force staff.

"Commissioner authorities said authorities were looking a more extensive zone based on updated analyses from survival and search experts, rather than any recent developments."

Search Difficulties

On recently, authorities announced that the recent search had not uncovered any signs of Gus.

"The fact that Gus is a little boy, the landscape is particularly difficult, harsh and experiencing unpredictable climate has made the searching difficult and more complex for those participating," officials said in a announcement.

Relatives Reaction

Police earlier this week said the youngster's relatives remain "strong" despite the difficult situation.
